Arranged for solo B-flat trumpet and piano or organ. Range for B-flat trumpet is low C to A above the staff. Chords are printed above piano score to allow embellishment of accompaniment.

Very pretty “inside” jazz harmonies with snippets of hymns used as interludes between sections (Old Hundredth Psalm, Crown Him With Many Crowns, Holy, Holy, Holy).

The Way You Look Tonight / Octet
The great 1936 song by Jerome Kern & Dorothy Field reharmonized and arranged for five horns (trumpet, alto sax, tenor sax, bari sax and trombone) and rhythm section. 4 bar intro, solo break, blowing over standard changes. Arrangement is 72 bars long with blowing changes over the full form. Tempo is quarter note = 144. Ensemble is swinging and rhythmically challenging with easy ranges for all instruments.

What Child Is This? / Septet
The ancient Christmas song (the tune is Greensleeves) arranged for trumpet, alto sax, tenor sax, trombone, piano, bass and drums. Melody is arranged once, then solo space followed by a four-horn (four-part harmony) soli. More solo space before the out-chorus which is a different arrangement than the opening chorus. Each solo is preceded by a short interlude.

Mellow, quarter note = 144, 32-bar form, the total arrangement is about 120 bars.

O Come, O Come Emmanuel / Flextet
Trumpet I, Trumpet II or Alto Sax II, Tenor Sax III or Trombone III, Trombone IV or Bari Sax IV, piano, bass and drums. Treatment similar to Neil Hefti’s Cute; each melody segment is followed by a two-bar drum fill. Blowing over minor blues, arrangement is a total of 44 bars. Mellow, tight-small-group sound.
